Zero waste, zero waste objectives are as many new thermal baths that are frequently heard in the media and that are increasingly discussed with colleagues and friends.
What the hell is that?
According to the ZeroWaste association, it is "an approach aimed at reducing our waste production as much as possible. It means changing the way we consume in order to produce less waste at source, not just to better integrate recycling into our lifestyles.
How can I apply it in my daily life?
This movement requires a reflection on how to limit waste, buy better, repair instead of throwing away and of course sort and recycle.
The food supply
Prefer short circuits to mass distribution
Buy local, the products are fresher and of better quality
Buy vegetables, pasta, rice... in bulk (it is 15% to 40% cheaper than supermarket products sold in plastic packaging)
Store these products in glass jars that, in addition to being aesthetic, keep your food very well!
Replace everyday disposable items
On 18 December 2018 the EU adopted legislation to reduce disposable plastic waste from our daily lives. The text provides in particular for the abolition of 8 single-use plastic products by 2021 (cutlery, plates, straws, cotton buds, etc.).
Here are some alternatives, the list is not exhaustive:
Replace your plastic toothbrush with a bamboo toothbrush
Sip a cocktail with friends with a bamboo straw
Enjoy a picnic with reusable bamboo cutlery
Gently clean your ears with bamboo swabs
As you have understood, it is time to realize that by changing some of the little habits of our daily lives, we can make a significant contribution to the preservation of our beautiful planet.
